Lille Metropole selected as partner in the Urban Agenda for Food !

Lille Metropole is thrilled to announce it has been selected to become partners of the Urban Agenda for the EU (AUEU) partnership on Food.

The Urban Agenda for the EU represents a multi-level working method for urban policy and practice, promoting cooperation between Member States, cities, the European Commission, and other stakeholders. It was launched in May 2016 with the Pact of Amsterdam and reconfirmed as a valuable initiative in November 2021, with the Ljubljana Agreement. In the 2021–2027 period, support to the Urban Agenda for the EU will be provided under the European Urban Initiative. The Urban Agenda for the EU places cities as catalysts in bringing about systemic transformation by fostering coordination and collaboration between public authorities. Previously, Lille Metropole had been involved in two other Urban Agendas : sustainable land use, and security in public places.

A mixture of rural and urban areas, and France's most agricultural metropolis, the MEL is particularly invested in developing expertise and activities in the field of food system sustainability, in line with the UAEU's three crucial pillars of regulation, knowledge and funding. Lille Metropole’s participation in the Urban Agenda on food for the EU is embedded within the renewal of our agircultural and food strategies.

Lille Metropole’s participation in the Urban Agenda for the EU is an opportunity to contribute to a comprehensive process involving knowledge-sharing discussions, the construction of an action plan with concrete proposals and a tailored localised implementation over the course of several years. We look forwards to working with the city of Milan, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, and all the other partners !
