Festival Series Mania 2021 in Lille Metropole from 26 August till the 2nd of September

Created at the “Forum des images” in Paris in 2010, Series Mania has been developing in Lille since 2018 where it has established itself as the largest European event entirely dedicated to series. This year’s festival, which will be organised for the 4th time in Lille, offers in preview and on a large screen the best of international series, to the public – up to 72000 spectators depending on the editions – but also several days of discoveries, celebrations and meetings in Lille with some of the most renowned personalities in the serial universe of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

At the same time, the event welcomes world serial industry professionals at “Series Mania Forum” and « Lille Dialogues ». Two key events for networking and business that are now extended online with the creation in 2020 of Series Mania Digital Forum.

Moreover, recent developments in the audiovisual sector, as well as the rapid growth of international platforms, have made it increasingly necessary to have this unique forum for discussion. The Lille Dialogues organised in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the European Commission, this one-of-a-kind day in Europe will bring together this year European political decision-makers and leaders of the sector around the theme “Audiovisual at the heart of European recovery”.  Series Mania continues more largely its international development and welcomes more than 20 countries to its program, with new entrants such as Serbia, Croatia, Turkey, Colombia and Taiwan. A plurality of voices and views on our societies that speak so well of the current state of the world, in all its complex mutations.

Finally, wishing to extend its support for serial creation in Europe and to play a major role in the structuring of the sector, the Festival launches the “Series Mania Institute”, a training program for students and professionals in industry. The creation of this first school in Lille Metropole entirely dedicated to series aims to contribute to the exchange of European know-how, the decompartmentalization of the professions of serial fiction, as well as the opening of the sector to the diversity of paths and origins.
